Somewhere, deep in the heart of Texas (Austin), Aurasma have just launched Aurasma 3.0, and recommended Realise as one of 10 preferred global agency partners. We’re delighted with this news – we were early adopters of Aurasma, using the technology in our own proof of concepts to bring dinosaurs to life in the National Museum of Scotland, and being one of the first agencies to use the app to bring adverts in a nationwide print campaign to life (for CBS Action’s NCIS).
Our biggest campaign to date was also for CBS Action: while playing with Aurasma, we thought ‘if we can use AR to bring something into the world, can we use it to take something out?. We created a quick demo of a matter transporter and took it to CBS to see if we could create it with their blessing. They enabled us to create ‘Beam Me Up’ and take it to Europe’s biggest Star Trek convention, where the experience, complete with transporter room stage, was a huge success, eventually going on to win us a Peoples Vote award at that year’s Webby Awards.
The Beam Me Up story is a good example of our approach to new technology – we love to play with tech creatively, and see how it can be pushed, pulled and bended to create something extraordinary.
So we’re very excited about Aurasma 3.0, also announce at SXSW. With a new SDK, cloud-based studio, user features and geotargeting capabilities, we can’t wait to see where we can boldly take it this time. If you’d like to be part of our fantastic voyage, please get in touch!
